Cutting his teeth at The independent Development Trust (IDT) Nxumalo honed his skill in Portfolio Management, Project Management, Construction Management Stakeholder Management & Community Development. Nxumalo then moved on to managing multiple departments including Health Essential Services Portfolio, Infrastructure & Medical Technology, LED’s, Offices, Schools, Agricultural Colleges, Barrier Fence for Foot & Mouth Diseases between RSA, Mozambique & Swaziland.
As a Civil Engineering Technician and Skills Development Facilitator, his love for built environment is evident through his involvement in the extension of the Durban ICC, the construction of Moses Mabhida Stadium, widening of the Durban Harbour and the construction of Westwood Mall, and was instrumental in the establishment and driving of the Vukuzakhe Programme of the KZN Department of Transport, to grade and empower emerging contractors.
Shaun Welgemoed (Managing Director)
A seasoned professional in the property development sphere with over 20 years experience, Welgemoed began his career with Marriott Properties, where he honed his skills in retail, excelling to the level of Leasing Manager, and later the Development Manager of Old Mutual KZN. His years of experience and focus led to his involvement and direction in instrumental, iconic projects such as the expansions of Gateway and Menlyn shopping centres. Welgemoed then went on to be the Head of Retail for Abland, driving the identification, conceptualization and implementation of several retail developments, before joining the AJPH team. His holistic knowledge and understanding off the retail and property markets extends across leasing, property and project management, and effective development planning.
Albert Lourens (Non-Executive Director)
Lourens obtained his BSc degree in Quantity Surveying from the University of Pretoria in 1982. Having formed Africost in 1984, Albert has over 30 years’ experience in the Quantity Surveying , Project Management and Property Development environment. Albert’s main role in the company pertains to Client Relations, Marketing and Feasibility Studies. Albert has been involved in a number of major landmark development projects including Jozini Tiger Lodge, The Pearls, The Receiver of Revenue in Durban and the Protea Hotel Gateway .
